Terms of service
Last updated: 18 August 2026 · version 1.0
These terms set out the rules for using the Greenlight app. By creating an account you accept them.
1. What the service is
Greenlight is an app that supports language learning (currently English) based on TV shows. Before an episode it compares the episode's vocabulary with your personal dictionary, estimates how much of the dialogue you will understand and prepares flashcards with the missing words. Greenlight is not a streaming service: it does not provide episodes or subtitles and does not replace the services where you watch. The example sentences and explanations in the app are our own original materials, not quotes from any show.
We are not affiliated with the creators, producers or distributors of the shows in the catalogue; their titles and trademarks belong to their owners, and posters come from TVmaze (CC BY-SA licence) and serve identification only.
2. Technical requirements and risks
You need an iPhone running iOS 17.0or later and an internet connection for episode analysis. Using services provided electronically carries the usual risks (malware, phishing, password theft). We apply safeguards (encrypted transmission, secure password storage) and recommend protecting your device and never sharing your credentials. Data transfer costs are borne by you under your carrier's tariff.
3. Account and age
You create an account with an e-mail address and password, or by signing in with Apple or Google (your e-mail address is then provided to us by that identity provider). The app is for people aged 13or older; minors may use it with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian, who is responsible for compliance with these terms. A minor's subscription purchase requires guardian approval; Apple's "Ask to Buy" serves this purpose. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential; one account serves one person. The account contract is concluded when the account is created, is free of charge and runs for an indefinite period; the Pro subscription is a separate, fixed-period contract (section 5). You can delete the account at any time in the app (Profile). Deletion is irreversible and includes all learning progress, so you may first request a copy of your data (see the privacy policy).
4. Free plan and Pro plan
- Free plan: 3 episode analyses per day (re-opening an already analysed episode does not use the limit) and learning one episode at a time, with no word cap; the next episode can be started 7 days after you started learning the previous one. Reviews and the Foundation module (core-vocabulary learning) are unlimited.
- Greenlight Pro: no daily analysis limit, any number of episodes at once (no waiting) and detailed vocabulary statistics.
5. Subscription and payments
Greenlight Pro is available monthly (29,99 zł/month) or yearly (199,00 zł/year; gross prices), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. The binding amount is always confirmed by the App Store before purchase. The subscription is billed by Apple under App Store terms; we have no access to your card details. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage and cancel it in your Apple account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions), not on our side. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, a paid period starts automatically and Apple charges the fee. Turning off renewal keeps access until the end of the paid period; deleting your account in the app does not cancel the subscription with Apple.
6. Right of withdrawal
As a consumer you may withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving a reason. The subscription is a digital service provided continuously: if, at your express request, performance began before that period expired, upon withdrawal you pay proportionally for the period used. For one-off digital content the right of withdrawal expires with your express consent to immediate delivery after acknowledging the loss of that right. Send withdrawal notices to [email protected]. You may, but do not have to, use the model withdrawal form in Annex 2 to the Polish Consumer Rights Act; an unequivocal statement with your account e-mail is enough. The fastest refund path for App Store purchases is Apple's own system (reportaproblem.apple.com), which honours EU consumer rights.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use the app lawfully and not to disrupt it, in particular not to submit unlawful content, circumvent safeguards or free-plan limits, scrape data, resell or share the account. Unlawful content means in particular content infringing others' rights (including copyright), defamatory, discriminatory or inciting violence; this also applies to submitted show suggestions. You can report such content to [email protected] (describe the content and the reason); we inform the reporter and the author of the decision with a short justification. The app and its content (including our original example sentences and translations) are protected by law; you receive a licence for personal, non-commercial use. By submitting a show suggestion you agree to its free-of-charge use in developing the app. If you materially breach these rules we may block the account or terminate the contract, after first calling on you to stop (unless the nature of the breach makes that impossible); this does not affect your rights from a paid period.
8. Liability and updates
The estimated comprehension percentage and episode difficulty are auxiliary and indicative. We strive to keep the service running without interruption, but technical breaks may occur, and we are not liable for non-performance caused by force majeure (external events we could neither foresee nor prevent). We also do not guarantee specific learning outcomes. We provide app updates necessary to keep the service in conformity with the contract and announce them in the App Store. Not installing them may affect how the app works.
9. Changes to the service
We may change the app (including the show catalogue and feature layout) for justified reasons: service development, technological or legal changes, security, or changes on the side of data sources, at no extra cost to you and while keeping the service in conformity with the contract. We will give advance notice by e-mail (and may additionally notify you in the app) of any change that materially and negatively affects your use of the service; you may then terminate the contract without notice within 30 days of receiving the information.
10. Complaints
Send complaints to [email protected] (include your account e-mail and a description). We will reply within 14 days. We are liable for the digital service's conformity with the contract under the Polish Consumer Rights Act; complaints about App Store payments are handled by Apple.
11. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms for important reasons: changes in law or its interpretation, changes to the scope or manner of providing the service, security, abuse prevention, or changes to our details, to the extent the reason requires. We will announce changes by e-mail (and may additionally notify you in the app) at least 14 days before they take effect; if you do not accept them, you may terminate the contract (delete the account) before that date. Changes are not retroactive and do not affect rights from a paid period.
12. Disputes and governing law
We aim to resolve disputes amicably. As a consumer you may seek help from municipal (district) consumer ombudsmen or the Trade Inspection. Polish law applies to matters not covered here, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules. If any provision of these terms proves invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. How we process personal data is described in the privacy policy.
13. Service provider
The service is provided by Dariusz Biel, Stryszów 361, 34-146 Stryszów, Poland, VAT ID (NIP): 5512550284. Contact: [email protected].
